Trip to Canada

Okay, now that I have a cup of tea in front of me...(its a British/Aussie thing) I can start to blog. Yah! So let me tell you about my trip to Canada. First thing is first, the reason why I went. My husband, daughter and myself had to renew our American visas, so we can work/live legally in America. Good thing everything went okay, as my dog would have been stuck in a Floridian kennel until immigration let us through.
But after much stressing on my husband's side, the American Embassy granted us our visas. So after doing a happy dance in the beautiful city of Ottawa, we went sight seeing.
The colorful autumn leaves covered the thick rich grass in many of the parks we visited. Even though our thin Floridian blood could not take the cold for long, we walked briskly to the closest European pub/restaurant for a hot chocolate and cider. Canada was more European than American influenced, and hearing the romantic language of French floating on the breeze, it felt like we were in another world.
We took a Halloween ghost tour one night and walked the haunted streets of Ottawa to end up in the oldest building, Bytown Museum. Now that place was scary at night. My daughter freaked out when a door slammed closed by itself after we had left a room. I am still not convinced it was not contrived by the ghost tour. But all in all, we had a great time, even though our noses had frozen off.
The next day we went on a steam train through Quebec and saw the glorious countryside. The rolling hills with bright maple trees took our breath away.
At this time it still had not snowed and being from a warm climate all our lives, we were a little disappointed. My daughter and I really wanted to play in the snow. It wasn't until we were at the airport and waiting for our plane that it started to snow. Which was kinda cruel of mother nature to wait until we could not go outside and touch a snow flake. After going through airport security, you really don't want to go through the system twice.
So, in a nut shell, that was our holiday. We had a great time and it was lovely to meet up with my husband at the airport after he had been away for two weeks in the Philippines.
Laughter was the main course of the day. My cup runneth over.
