Duck Lady

I was outside on my patio, feeding the scores of ducks that gather whenever they hear my back door open. I think I have been dubbed the Duck Lady by my neighbors. So I was feeding the ducks when I noticed one of the young ones had a fish hook through its beak.
It broke my heart to see it struggle while eating food. In true "Lyn fashion" I set about trying to capture the wily duck that did not want to be touched by a tall woman clucking, "here ducky, ducky" while holding a box over its head.
My mom came in on the pathetic attempts of trapping the duck. After I almost landed in the lake and fell head first in duck poo, we finally caught him.
He was not a happy duck, but we got him to the vets. After paying $85 to remove the fish hook, we brought him home and released him back into the lake. He didn't even look back as he waddled away.
But that's okay. He is now pain free and has a story to tell his duck friends of two crazy ladies who captured him with duck poo on their face.
