I would like to welcome Tina Holland, a contemporary erotic romance author. We will be blogging with this talented writer for this week. So sit back with a cuppa, and enjoy finding out Tina's little secrets to success and writing erotica.
Tina, how long have you been writing?
I've been writing since my childhood. I began writing Poetry and am even published in one of the Annuals put out in the late 80's. I began avidly writing fiction in 1996 after I got the idea that a 20's historical had never been seen. Perhaps fortunately that work never saw fruition. I began taking writing more seriously after my first Romantic Times Convention in 2003.
What advice would you give to writers just starting out?
Decide what you want out of writing. If you want it to be a Career treat it as such. You can't treat it as a "hobby" and hope to make money. You have to think on the business end too. Budgets, Capital, Royalties, Advertising…while this doesn't seem exciting to most creative aspects it's absolutely necessary if you want to succeed. If your level of success is creating at your own pace, don't let others tell you that you aren't successful. There is enough room for all of us in the industry. You can be a bright shining star or a creative recluse…its all good.
Thanks Tina. That is great advice.
Join us tommorrow as Tina talks on her first rejection letter.
Have a great day.
