Good morning Tina, thank you for being with us again. A lot of romance writers get rejection letters and it can be a real blow to the creative ego.

How did you deal with rejection letters, if you received any?

I’m almost afraid to answer this.  I got my first rejection letter after my first contract so the blow was pretty soft. I think I saved myself rejection by pitching to the right market.  I did enough research on the front end that when I did finally query I knew where to take my short novella.

What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?

Always be willing to learn.  Some of us have natural talents and we can usually get our foot in the door because we have great plots, characters, grammar, etc.  But if we don’t learn beyond what we are already good at, we will lose footing fast.  Take criticism and ask if it’s an opinion (we all have them) or if there is some truth behind it.

Thanks Tina. Come back tomorrow to find out what Tina did when her first manuscript was accepted by a publisher.
