Hearing and seeing ghosts is something that is not new to me, so when my publisher from Resplendence, Leigh Collet, asked me to stay at a haunted hotel at Cassadanga, Florida with her, I thought what the heck. It should be fun.
Cassadanga is a small country town filled with mediums, psychics and spiritualists, so the energies were incredible. A huge fan of ghost hunting, Leigh had all the equipment to seek out the spirit world and record their exsistance scientifically. A human beacon for earth-bound spirits, she knew I would draw them to me, and would have a greater chance of an encounter with me on her team. With two other paranormal romance authors, we walked around the old town, experiencing and seeing shadows in the woods and amongst the old houses.
We didn't have long to wait before the spirits started to find us. The first night, it was 6am when I was sleeping on the ground on a mattress when I heard a rustling of petticoats beside me come out of the bathroom. Since the other girls were in bed on the other side of the room, I knew that when the heavy skirt touched my leg, an icy chill went through my veins, along with a loud ringing in my right ear, that a ghost was standing over me. Even though I have been touched by ghosts before, you never really get used to the deathly chill that lingers long after their presence leaves. Athough, I did not look up, I felt a lady lean over me as if to say, "What are you doing on the ground?"
I whispered to her to leave me, cause I really needed to sleep and her energies were keeping me awake. She respectfully left. I sat up and the other girls sat up too. I asked them if they felt the lady, but they said no. Only heard me whispering. Leigh was upset that no ghosts came too.
The next day, the owner told us that was a ghostly figure of a lady was seen walking into the rooms with towels. Her skirts had petticoats like in the early 1900's. I figured it was her, coming to check on the occupants and found me on the floor.
The next night, we decided to go further into our investigation. Leigh was determined to see a ghost and have one touch her. Come back tomorrow to read what happened when another ghost visited us in the middle of the night...and did not leave.
